Gradation of Nature

This project is on a story in an apartment building. With three different spaces from the exterior to the interior and two transitional interfaces between them, we loosen and obscure the artificial form and organization of urban spaces, creating segue from the structure to the natural environment.

With Through the security office and the gate, the first space is a neutral, functional conference room and mezzanine for archives. Through the sloping, tunnel-shaped transitional space, we enter the second space, with a core of pillars and plates of old wood anchoring the open office spaces on both sides in the center. From there, we transition again to the third space, with diverse functions, unrestrained forms, and closeness to nature.

With slicing and twisting, the functional white geometric space transitions into the office space with richer diversity in materials and forms.

The shaft in the center of the office space is covered with colored old wood plates with light projection tracks designed with PVC pipes, interweaving the patterns of wood and pipeline, thus creating a visual focus in the space that radiates to the corners of the office space.

Brick walls, gravel, and flooring enter from the outside. The transparent glass obscures the boundary between indoors and outdoors. With transitional materials, the interior space merges with the natural winds and light of the outdoors.

The variety of the interior converges in the outdoors and becomes expressions of the materials themselves, as the crude quality bricks, stones, wood, concrete, and ceramics engage in conversations with sunlight, air, and vegetation.

The last space in this direction is a corner of nature in the midst of a city. Here we converse, rest, cook, and dine, merging work with life into a whole.
